The working behind the answer

How to use this calculator

Enter the original and desired servings, then list ingredients using the shown format. Each quantity is multiplied by the same factor while its unit label is preserved. Decimal quantities allow values such as 0.5 for half a teaspoon.

The formula

Scale a recipe

New quantity = original quantity × target servings ÷ original servings

A worked example

Scale a four-serving recipe to six servings by multiplying by 1.5. Then 300g of flour becomes 450g, 250ml of milk becomes 375ml and 2 eggs becomes 3 eggs.

Good to know

There is no automatic conversion between grams, cups or millilitres. Ingredient density, seasoning, cooking time and pan size are outside the calculation. Fractional eggs or other indivisible ingredients may need practical judgement.

Common questions

Can I halve a recipe?

Yes. Choose target servings equal to half the original servings.

Will the cooking time also scale?

No. Cooking time does not generally scale in direct proportion to ingredient quantities.
