The working behind the answer

How to use this calculator

Enter the total amount paid by the buyer and your actual costs. If shipping was charged to the buyer, include it in amount charged; enter your shipping expense separately. The percentage fee applies to the entire entered amount charged.

The formula

Calculate profit on a sale

Profit = amount charged − product cost − shipping − percentage fee − fixed fee − other costs

A worked example

Charge £100, with a £40 product cost, £5 shipping, 3% fee, £0.30 fixed fee and £2 other costs. The total fee is £3.30 and profit after those entered costs is £49.70.

Good to know

There is no built-in marketplace or payment-provider rate. Enter the fee structure that applies to the transaction and account for any other costs explicitly. This is profit after entered costs, not necessarily taxable or final net profit.

Common questions

What if my provider charges fees on a different basis?

Use values matching that basis or calculate the actual fee separately and put it in other costs with the percentage fee set to zero.

Can it show a loss?

Yes. If entered costs exceed the amount charged, the result is negative.
